Pete Selin Memorial Happy Minute

The seventh running of the Pete Selin Memorial Happy Minute will take place at Rillito Park, in Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday, March 28, 2015. The race is named after the University of Arizona RTIP alumnus and turf writer who passed away on January 27, 2006, following a multi-year struggle with chronic leukemia.

This event has been assembled in Pete’s honor, and is a fitting tribute to a one-of-a-kind friend and mentor who rarely missed a day of racing at Rillito Park or a Happy Minute at the Buffet Bar and Crock Pot.

Unfortunately the 2014 edition of the Selin was canceled due to a race day equipment malfunction, but since that day, Rillito Park has undergone a facelift that Pete would have loved. Under new management, led by Michael Weiss, those attending this year’s Selin will notice that horsemen have received a bump in purse levels, and race fans have improved food and beverage options, along with the ability to watch and wager on races from around the country.

The 20-day meet runs through April 11, with simulcasting available through Belmont Stakes day on June 6. The race day schedule, with events and post times, can be found on the new Rillito Park website at www.rillitoracetrack.com
